Planned Giving

What is your legacy?

How will people remember you?

Nonprofit organizations contribute to the “quality of life” that we know in southwest North Dakota. They provide health care, education, spirituality, youth activities and development, care for the elderly and services for the disabled. They preserve our proud history and more. Your life has probably been touched by several of these organizations. Perhaps you were ill and required a hospital stay. Maybe your parents or grandparents have been cared for in a local nursing home. Possibly you volunteered at your local school, church or museum or you mentored a child. You have an opportunity to make an impact on your favorite charity and to “leave a legacy” by effectively planning your estate.

North Dakota and the outlying region is rich in heritage, fertile soil, natural resources and unequalled work ethic, and is beginning to recognize the huge financial resources that have been created by our hard- working and industrious people. A recent transfer of wealth study projects that $205.7 billion is expected to be transferred by 2055 from estates of North Dakotans to family, other heirs, charities, estate taxes and estate fees, with as much as $55.3 billion paid in estate taxes. You can make a difference in your community while reducing estate taxes and fees — through proper planning you could leave more dollars for your family, keep some of the wealth in North Dakota and help your favorite charity.
